FCA aim to support teachers in the implementation and delivery of primary school sports. Our intentions are to provide excellent coaching and competition opportunities across 5 key sports. The team will help review and support current PE and physical activity programs, develop links within select schools and establish exit routes into local sports clubs.
The FCA team approach coaching from a wholistic point of view using the 4 Corner Model. We try and increase the percentage of children participating in sports by focusing on fun and new skills. Through sports and the games we look at the physical, technical, social and psychological capabilities of the child and try to shape their behaviour accordingly. Only through a ‘player centred’ approach can we start planning appropriately for the differing demands of Key Stage 1 and 2.
Our hopes are always to work in partnership with schools and work towards mutually beneficial goals. We want to engage with local primary schools and use our wealth of knowledge and experience to deliver an excellent service for teachers and pupils. Using a selection of simple fitness tests, we are certain we can improve the ‘physical literacy’ of participants throughout the term and academic year. FCA are unique in the aspect that we want to empower teachers by developing clear coaching structures and guidelines. We understand how excellent coaching should be delivered and want to facilitate that with continued teacher training.
The FCA mission statement through the school coaching program is always to help young people play sport through excellent coaching and support within a safe environment.
